Renault Pulse Petrol variants Launched at Rs 4.25 lakh

Renault has unveiled three petrol variants of their Pulse hatchback operated by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, 80PS motor, mated to a five-speed gearbox. The base RXE version starts at Rs. 4.25 lakh going up to Rs. 5.55 lakh for the top-end RXZ version, both ex-showroom Delhi.

Similar to the diesel, the petrol Pulse will be available in six exterior and two internal color options. The top-end RXZ version is packed with safety and creature comforts including front dual airbags, automatic climate control, illuminated engine start/stop button, lock/unlock sensing folding outside rear view mirrors, all power windows, ABS , follow-me headlamps and integrated audio in terms of safety and comfort.

More than 80 % of the hatchback customers opt for a diesel engine due to its practicality and lower ownership costs. Due to which, Renault unveiled the diesel Pulse first. However, a number of customers also consider petrol variants due to the oil burners higher intial cost which is difficult to offset when they have less kilometer to drive. The petrol version will cater to such audience.

Renault is also looking at venturing in the entry-level SUV segment with their much-awaited Duster, expected to launch around mid-2012. In 2011, Renault launched the Koleos in the luxury SUV segment, however, coming in as a CBU at Rs. 24.79 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, the Koleos did not quite churn up sales numbers. Earlier this year, the French car maker also announced the localisation of their top-management in the country to understand the Indian buyers’ perspective. The move will take shape in a matter of five years.
