A bench of justice GP Mittal and justice S Ravindra Bhat absolved 17 other witnesses in the Jessica Lall murder case.

The Delhi high court had taken suo motu cognisance in the case and had asked the prosecution as to how all the witnesses took somersault during the trial.

The court had reserved its order on May 4, 2011, after hearing arguments on behalf of police and the witnessess who had turned hostile.

Jessica Lall, who was shot dead in April 1999 by Manu Sharma, son of Haryana Congress leader Vinod Sharma after she rejected to serve a drink to him at a late night party in south Delhi.

Vinay Sharma’s lawyer A. P. Singh claimed that Vinay was rushed to the Nayak Hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday with the chest injuries after he was attacked by the fellow prisoners in Tihar Jail.

A. P. Singh says ” Vinay Sharma was vomiting blood and running a very high fever. He was also suffering from chest pains. He is in a very critical condition”.

The chest pains came after Sharma, 20, was “beaten up and thrashed” by fellow inmates at the maximum-security jail, the lawyer added.

The lawyer said the vomiting had been caused by the “slow poisoning” of his food over a period of several weeks.

Geetika Sharma, 23, Who was found hanging at her home on Ashok Vihar in North Delhi on August 5, 2012. Geetika left behind two suicide notes blaming Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chaddha, Geetika had worked on Kanda’s MDLR Airlines.

The duo, identified as school bus driver Mohd Shamim and helper Asgar Ali, were arrested from south Delhi’s Hauz Khas area after a complaint was filed with the police that they had forced schoolchildren, who travelled in the bus, to watch pornographic clips in their mobile phones.

The school bus driver and helper have been identified as Asgar Ali (28) and Mohammad Shamim (26), who was arrested on Thursday evening after call made to police by the parents of the victims.

A case has been filed against them under section 10 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences.

The accusers Mohd Shamim and Asgar Ali live at Kotla Mubarakpur area in South Delhi and both are single and the accused employed with the school for the past couple of years.

“On Thursday afternoon, the police received a PCR call in which the caller alleged that the driver and helper of the school bus were showing pornographic clips and molesting the school children travelling in the school bus,” According to a senior police officer.

“The allegation was verified with some other children who use the bus. They confirmed that the two used to show pornographic clips on their mobile phones to some students who are in the age group of 10 to 15 years. Some of the students had also complained to their school teachers about it”.

The AIIMS Doctors say a five-year-old rape victim is doing well, can be discharged from hospital in 4-5 days.

The accused (Manoj Kumar) was arrested in Chiknouta, his in-law’s village, in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar at around 2.00 AM.

The accused was apprehended by a team of police from Delhi with the help of local police.

The police have slapped murder charges on the charged, Manoj Kumar. The accused, who had come by a train from Delhi, was traced after tracking his mobile phone location, police said.

Manoj Kumar had married recently and his wife had come to her parent’s place two days back.

The 5-year-old girl was kidnapped on April 15 and kept hostage for two days without food and water in a flat owned by the assaulter in Gandhi Nagar East Delhi.

The victim and her family members stayed in the same building where Manoj Kumar lived.

“The girl, who was raped repeatedly, was saved when members of her family heard her screams on Wednesday evening”, police said.

“That they have slapped Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 376 (a) (rape), 362-A (kidnapping) among others of IPC and 6 and 9 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012″, Police officials said.

Tremors measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook New Delhi-NCR. The earthquake in Delhi, NCR and Jaipur in North India took place around 4.20 pm on Tuesday.

So far, no damage to life and property or home has been reported.

As per the US Geological Survey, the earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter Scale had its epicenter on the Iran and Pakistan border at a depth of 15.2 kms. It was placed 86 kms east-southeast of Khash, Iran.

Over 37 people were killed and 850 were injured in a 6.3 magnitude quake in south-west Iran on 10 April.

It was felt in Iran, Pakistan and a major part of West Asia.

Iran is reported to have killed more than 40 people.

The earthquake was widely felt in North India, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh.

The officer, AGL Kaul’s said, is consistent with the CBI’s stand in the case. He was being examined by the prosecution when he told the court that “no one from outside could have come inside the flat and have committed the crime. It has been committed by the accused only.”

The CBI had submitted a closure report in 2010 saying that while it powerfully suspected the participation of the parents in an Aarushi’s murder, it did not have sufficient evidence to prove it. Mr Kaul was part of the CBI team that drafted the closure report, which was refused by the court.

Aarushi was found dead in bed with her throat slit on the early morning of 16 May 2008. The police initially suspected a domestic help, Hemraj, who was missing. But hours later, Hemraj’s body was found on the Talwars’ terrace. Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were at home when Aarushi was killed.
