New Delhi: After four years of underachievement the Kolkata Knight Riders have given the individuals of Kolkata and all their lovers across the world the one factor they wanted the most – the IPL trophy. The City of Joy is in no mood to let go this chance to celebrate the win and felicitate their heroes.

The KKR team did a 6-kilometer victory parade on an start top bus from Hazara crossing to Writers Building. At the ceremony, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was given the IPL trophy by the team owner and Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan. Juhi Chawla, co-owner of KKR touched Mamata’s feet

SRK, Juhi and Mamata jointly held the trophy and Mamata said, “I extend a warm welcome to KKR on behalf of entire Bengal.” The Chief Minister welcomed the team with shawls and sandesh.

The skipper Gautam Gambhir thanked the Kolkata crowd  for their love and support.

The team left the Writers Building to head towards procession  Eden Gardens where more than 1 lac people were waiting for their champs to arrive. The team owners Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla broke into dance as soon as they reached the Eden Gardens. The CM Mamata Banerjee again joined the team on the stage and everyone stood up for the National Anthem. Mamata addressed the crowd as soon as the National Anthem.

The Governor West Bengal M K Narayanan honoured the players with turquoise shawls. The KKR players alonf with owners also been gifted gold chains with lockets which say ‘Bengal Loves You’ . The Tollywood stars presented momentos to the team. After presenting gifts to the team, Mamata asked Gautam Gambhir, SRK and Juhi to cut the Cake with KKR’s slogan – ‘Korbo Lorbo Jitbo’.

With the win, Bengal crowd has certainly forgiven SRK for dumping Saurav Ganguly from the Kolkata’s team.

Last night also saw the similar view as the Kolkata crowd gave a rousing welcome to the IPL champions. Gautam Gambhir’s three Bengali words “ami Kolkata r chele (I am son of the city)’ won the hearts and fans collected at NSC Bose International airport to welcome ‘home’ their Kolkata Knight Riders. Thousands of lovers danced to drum beats and cheered the team, which reach 10:30 PM, for their maiden IPL success after 5 seasons.

The state ministers welcomed the team members with flowers and garlands on a makeshift stage near the VIP gate No 5, near to the international terminal of airport in Dum Dum.

Team CEO Venky Mysore hailed Gambhir and coach Trevor Bayliss for the success. ”Gambhir has done a fantastic job as a leader so was our coach…I am proud of the team. Thank you Kolkata for all the support,” Venky said.

The fans with patiently for their triumphant team members to arrive as their flight was delayed by more than 2 hours. A makeshift stage was constructed just outside the gate to welcome KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan and players, who came in 2 batches. Slogans like ‘Three cheers for KKR, hip hip hurrah’, ‘KKR. KKR’, ‘Shah Rukh. Shah Rukh’ rent the air as lovers dressed in KKR jersey and carrying purple flags gathered at the airport. Many had come with posters of Shah Rukh Khan and team captain Gautam Gambhir. There were also posters with congratulatory messages.

SRK who initially denied that he had misbehaved and acted only after children, including his kids, were manhandled by the security staff said, ”I want to apologise to the kids for my misbehaviour at MCA. I apologise to all who saw me differently. I shouldn’t have behaved in that manner. But today my team has won, so I guess, all you fans should forgive me. We have won at last”, standing in the middle surrounded by his wife, daughter and other children.

According to the sources, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials are likely to discuss on the apology made by SRK. Shahrukh may not have offered any remorse directly to the MCA but atleast conceded that he didn’t behave properly.The source said, “He has not apologised to the MCA, has he? Anyway he had at least admitted he has not behaved in a proper manner. There is a managing committee meeting (of MCA) this evening to be headed by president Vilasrao Deshmukh. Let’s see what happens in it”.

Shahrukh Khan was banned from entering Wankhede Stadium for 5 years by MCA on May 18 after his altercation with the association officials and security on May 16.

While imposing ban on SRK, the MCA chief Deshmukh said, “There is no question of that (ban being reconsidered). Khan did not make any representation to us, nor apologize. He could also have filed a police complaint but he did not do that”, denying any chance of reconsideration.

But now when the Bollywood star has extended his apologies, Will MCA reconsider his ban and allow him to the Wankhede?

The finals of the IPL 2012 was a star stranded affair but all the limelight was stolen by a young 27 years old Kolkata Knight Rider batsman Manvinder Bisla. The night witnessed the emergence of a new champion Kolkata defeating the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their own backyard courtesy of some powerful hitting from Bisla. Playing in place of Brendon McCullum, Bisla had a daunting task at hand and he justified his selection by hitting all so important 89 runs of just 48 balls.

Chennai Super Kings literally thrashed the Kolkata bowling and even the KKR’s best bowler of the season Sunil Narine looked clueless. Suresh Raina who was out of touch in the entire season came to the party just at the right time and helped Chennai cruise to a total of 190.

The match seemed heading towards Chennai when KKR lost their skipper Gautam Gambhir in the first over chasing the mountainous Super Kings total with only 3 runs on the board. Then it was all Bisla show who along with Jacques Kallis put up a 136 runs partnership of 82 deliveries. Starting of slowly and steadily, Bisla opened up in the 4th over when he crashed Albie Morkel for 4 boundaries on the off side giving the much required momentum to his team. Kallis on the other hand showed no sense of urgency and smartly rotated the strike  to allow Bisla to face most of the balls. He spared no bowler hitting boundaries literally in every over to keep the required run rate intact. Bisla hit 8 fours and 5 sixes  in his inning and a century seemed to be on the cards before he was undone by A Morkel on 89 in the 15th over. Kolkata gambled by sending L Shukla in at the number 4 but it didn’t payoff. Kolkata batsman started to fall with M Bisla’s dismissal but it was Kallis who on the other end started to hit big shots. Kallis got caught on the boundary by R Jadeja trying to hit Ben Hilfenhaus for six over the cover region. The game got more tensed when Shakib got caught but the umpires declared it to be a no ball.

The task of taking Kolkata to the win finally rested with Manoj Tiwari and Shakib Al Hasan who performed it quite clinically. KKR needed 9 of the last over and Manoj Tiwari hit two fours to do it handsomely after getting only two of the first two deliveries. Both ran towards the dressing room to celebrate the victory.

The players and the owners of KKR were extremely excited after the win. The co-owner Shah Rukh Khan hugged every player and showed some ‘cart wheels’ to the crowd showing to acknowledge the crowd support after the impressing win.

So after wining the match and the IPL title it seems that Shahrukh Khan wants to end all things on a happy not thats why he  apologies for his misdoings just after his team won the IPL-5 tittle.

Chasing 223 for wining, Delhi Daredevils batsmen were all out at 136 runs in just 16.5 overs.

M Jayawardene, who opened the innings along with David Warner on Friday, stayed the highest scorer for the side with his 55 runs from 38 deliveries. Jayawardene hit 4 boundaries and 2 sixes in the match.

R Taylor (24), A Russell (16), D Warner (3) and V Sehwag (1) failed to deliver in the crucial match against CSK.

R Ashwin grabbed 3 wickets for Chennai.

Earlier, riding on a brilliant affect of 113 runs by M Vijay, CSK scored 222 runs for the loss of five wickets in their quota of 20 overs.

Vijay hit 15 boundaries and 4 sixes in his 58-ball innings.

MS Dhoni (23), SK Raina (27), D Bravo (33*) made some important contributions with the bat.

Chennai will now face Kolkata Knight Riders in the final match of the tournament.

Chennai won the last two editions of the cash-rich tournament.

Justice M.L. Mehta quashed the FIR and criminal proceedings in the case after the parties informed the court that they had resolved the case out of court.

The court registered Hamid’s statement that she did not want to pursue the case and wanted to go back home Friday night.

“Since they resolved the dispute and wanted to go back to their homes, I quashed the FIR. They can go to their homes now,” the court ordered.

Justice M.L. Mehta also denied the argument of the state that the FIR should not be quashed keeping in view the gravity and seriousness of the offence.

Luke was arrested May 18 after Hamid claimed that she had been molested in a five-star hotel here. She also said that the Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) player had beaten her fiance Sahil Peerzada.

In a joint petition moved by Zohal, Luke and Sahil Peerzada, it was said that they had reached a settlement Wednesday amicably without any pressure.

Delhi has one of the best batting line up in the season but the failure of Mahela Jayawardene and Ross Taylor has marked the opening of the floodgates for them. Kevin Pietersen has been doing well in the middle order to keep the innings intact but his departure has cost the team. Virender Sehwag’s form suddenly looks awful while Warner is firing in the odd games. The biggest problem of the team is Ross Taylor who has performed below average scoring only 173 at an average of 19 in the season.

Chennai on the other hand been unstoppable after getting the stroke of luck to get to the playoffs. Dhoni’s men took apart Mumbai Indians fand knocked them out of the IPL in the eliminator. CSK has the batting depth which showed in the previous match against MI scoring 183 even after loosing Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina in the second over of their innings.

The winner of the match will be playing in the finals against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Should Chennai win and they will be just one step away from winning the IPL trophy for the third time in a row.

Man of the Match: MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)

The captain cool MS Dhoni fired his team Chennai Super Kings to the second qualifiers by knocking out Mumbai Indians from the fifth edition of the Indian Premier league. MS Dhoni along with Dwayne Bravo assaulted Mumbai bowlers in the final overs of the inning put a road block to the Mumbai road to the finals.

After loosing two wickets in the same over,  Michael Hussey and S Badrinath built an excellent partnership of 94 runs and ensured that they have wickets in hand while going to the latter half of the innings. MS Dhoni took the attack to the opposition by hitting the longest six (112 m) of the season. Dhoni and Bravo compiled a partnership of 73 runs of just 29 balls as Mumbai Indians dropped their guard with the ball. Dhoni showed some trademark shorts especially the ‘Helicopter shot’ to hit Malinga over mid-wicket for a six. Dhawal Kulkarni and Harbhajan Singh acted miserly with the new ball but their efforts went into vain as Mumbai gave away 105 runs in the last 8 overs.

Mumbai Indians started the chase quite well as Dwayne Smith took the CSK bowlers apart but lot their way in the middle. With the end of Sachin Tendulkar, Mumbai Indians batting collapsed and none of the batsman scored even 20 runs. After showing batting heroics, Bravo dented the Mumbai batting with some smart bowling taking 2 wickets for just 10 runs. Albie Morkel was not given a chance to bat but he made his presence felt by taking two opposition wickets.

Chennai now reached the qualifier and will play Delhi Daredevils on Friday in their home ground.

Zohal’s lawyers will soon shift the Delhi High Court seeking withdrawal of the case registered against Luke Pomersbach who was arrested last Friday and later granted bail.

Pomersbach, is playing for Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Zohal will also drop legal proceedings against RCB director Siddharth Mallya for casting aspersions on her character through tweets after she reported to police about molestation by the cricketer.

“Yes,” Rajneesh Chopra, Zohal’s lawyer told when asked whether the American national was withdrawing case against Pomersbach and legal proceedings against Siddharth Mallya.

In a late night Tweet Siddharth Mallya said, “So glad that all charges have been dropped and Luke can return down under A FREE MAN!”

“I’ve always been a very loyal person who stands up for friends. The tweets/comments made were unfortunate, being the product of stressful circumstances and I realise people drew meaning and connotations other than and beyond what was intended against Zohal,” Siddharth tweeted.

Royal Challengers player Luke Pomersbach was arrested last Friday after American national Zohal Hamid claimed he molested her and hit her fiance Sahil when he objected to the cricketer’s behavior. Pomersbach was arrested and a court granted him bail later.

After four years of almost embarrassing seasons of Indians Premier League,  Kolkata Knight Riders has made their way to the finals of the IPL 2012. Kolkata got a thumping win over the best side of the season Delhi to play for the IPL trophy on Sunday. Delhi seem reluctant to win while Kolkata pounched on every opportunity that came their way. On the track where there was a ample help for the spinners, Delhi stuck with the pace attack.

Delhi’s chase of 163 started badly losing both the openers Virender Sehwag (10) and David Warner(7)  in the first 4 overs. Naman Ojha (28) and Mahela  Jayawardene took control and kept Delhi in hunt at 83 for 2 after 10 overs. Kolkata choked Delhi in the latter half of the chase by giving absolutely nothing to the batsman.  Pawan Negi (14) was sent ahead of Ross Taylor (11) but the risk backfired and the asking rate rose to 14 when Taylor came out to bat at number 7.

The only time Delhi seem in control was in the first 16 overs of the Kolkata’s batting when they lumbered the KKR team to 106/4. Kolkata started their innings with a flier but Gambhir’s (32) departure strangulated the batsman. Yusuf Pathan (40) and Laxmi Shukla (24) came out over of no where to play the innings of lifetime to get their team to the par score. Delhi gave away 56 runs off the last 4 overs as Knight Riders surged to 162.

The lose is not the end of road for the Delhi team as they have one more shot to reach the finals in the Qualifier 2 against the winners of the Eliminator.
