Sharapova reaches Miami final, beat Wozniacki

Florida: Second seed Maria Sharapova advanced to the Sony Ericsson Open final by defeating Caroline Wozniacki by 4-6 6-2 6-4 Thursday in a two and a half hour fight.

The Russian will now perform the victorious one of the match between Poland`s Agnieszka Radwanska and France`s Marion Bartoli, who perform their semi-final later on Thursday.

Sharapova was forward early but missing the first set after her serve vanished, enabling Wozniacki to win five successive games and take control of the match.

But the Russian, who has missing in all three of her past final performances in this competition, retrieved in the second set, hitting the tennis ball with amazing energy.

Sharapova said “I could have easily, after losing a few straight games, let concentration down – I could have easily just gone down in the second set”.

“But I really stepped it up again. I went out there and started being aggressive. I didn`t stop after I put myself in a good position. I`m extremely pleased that I pulled it out today”.
