Pakistan jails Osama’s family for illegal stay

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan court on Monday charged and sentenced Laden’s three wives and two daughters for existing against the law in the nation and flouting immigration law regulations.

Senior civil judge Shahrukh Arjumand sentenced each of them to 45 day jail and Rs 10,000 ($114) fine.

The court also requested the govt to organize for their repatriation.

The three hour proceedings were presided over by a judge in the make shift court. It was set up in a posh home in Islamabad where Osama bin Laden’s family was put up. The home was designated a “sub-jail” for them.

Zakarya Ahmad Al-Fatah, Yemeni brother of one of Osama’s wives, said “The court directed the government to arrange for necessary documents for their earliest repatriation, so that they can go to their own country as soon as possible”.

Muhammad Aamir, their lawyer, said the time of detention started on Mar 3, when they were formally arrested for unlawful entrance and residence in Pakistan.

Aamir said “The internal assistant was instructed to organize their deportation”.
